Review of athletics in Cumbria – 2007
Competition
County Championships
- 84% of entrants competed though there was obviously some flexibility with late entries.
- 41.7% of the total championship entry came in the Under 11/Under 13 age group.

- Only 15% of track events required heats. Of the 9 events requiring heats :
3 were in the Under 11 age group
4 were in the Under 13 age group (7)
2 were in the Under 15 age group
- Breakdown of competitors
- Women competitors make up 54.5% of total
- There were no competitors in the following events:

62.5% of uncontested events were field events - There were 3 or less competitors in 45 events.
- 43.0% of the events that were contested or could have been contested had 3 or less or zero competitors taking part.
- Field event statistics are distorted by the numbers taking part in long jumps. 35.5% of field event entries were in that event.
- The worst contested event was the Triple Jump which had just one competitor across all age groups. Next comes Pole Vault which only had 2 competitors in the Under 17 men’s age group.
